America In Color :: 1939-1943

These images, by photographers of the Farm Security Administration/Office of War Information, are some of the only color photographs taken of the effects of the Depression on America’s rural and small town populations. So fascinating!

wow, this is amazing! Come to think of it I hardly picture the depression times in color since I'm so used to the regular black/white photos.

i looked at these over the weekend, and they're gorgeous. there's something so mesmerizing about them. they almost look like recreations taken today.

okay NO way! it is unbelievable to see photos like that in color! when they're black and white, they feel so distant from today's world. in color they are so real!

I know! Isn't it amazing to see it this way? Things were so much more colorful than I ever saw it in my head. :)
