I received the loveliest gift the other day from a sweet, sweet gal. I've been eyeing this gorgeous book and couldn't have been more giddy when this surprise came in the mail. Sibella Court gives us a dreamily-photographed book packed with interior styling tips and filled to the brim with "thrift and imagination." I am so blessed to have the sweetest husband ever {I may be a bit biased...}. He is the most selfless, generous and amazing man I know. I am beyond grateful for him in my life. Hard to believe we've been married for for almost 15 months now! Just feeling a little lovey-dovey today with Valentine's Day just around the corner. What are you thankful for today?

[Fashion] Beauty Buzz

I don't typically write about beauty stuff in my Fashion Fridays, but I've decided to switch things up a bit this week and see how it goes! I've got a case of the winter blues {go away dreary weather!}, so I'm quite looking forward to the colorful and fun hair & makeup trends for Spring!

Peach Lips

Peach lips are so so pretty this season. This soft shade is great for daytime but can easily be dressed up for evening with rich black eyeliner {even push it further with a fun bold blue}. The glossier the better, this flattering color can come across delicate or even more vibrant if you choose.

Taupe Nails

According to WhoWhatWear, taupe nails are all the craze. Simple, earthy and intriguing. I absolutely adore this color and believe this is the best way for people with my skin tone to wear it. Since my fair skin can't pull off taupe clothing, so I am all about this trend! I think I just might be purchasing this today!

Goddess Hair

It's going to take me awhile to achieve this - as my hair is short and crazy right now - but boy, am I looking forward to it! Sexy, tousled hair is all the rage. Tease out those curls, invite bedhead in... it's all about just-off-the-beach loose and natural curls this season. Like they say... easy, breezy, beautiful.

Bold Eyeliner

Line your top lid and keep the rest of your look fairly simple. This is perfect for a night out or even a Valentine's Day date. My personal favorite is a deep navy blue or green color extended out the corners of your lids, à la Audrey Hepburn.

Red Hot Lips

The red lipstick trend is still totally in... if you haven't yet jumped on it, now is the time! One of my favorite bloggers {Bleubird Vintage} made it a resolution to try out red lipstick this year - how adorable is she {below}?

Video Shoots & Pretty Skies

Yesterday couldn't have been a more beautiful spring-like day in Nashville. It was quite fun getting to work with my friend Becky Fluke, videographer-extraordinaire as well as one of my favorite local artists, Mr. Andrew Belle. The lovely Laura Dart was also there snapping behind-the-scene photos and capturing some fantastical moments {including the stunning leading lady - Molly Jenson}. I'm so excited to see the music video {for 'The Ladder' - go listen!} all come together, but until then... enjoy these shots I took of our adventures.

Dreamy Bathing Suit

I am in the midst of too many things - homemade banana bread in oven, crafting a wreath as part of a Style School project, dirty laundry, updating things for Troubadour & so on - so I've got to make this quick and force myself offline for a bit! It seems I'm having a difficult time focusing on anything this week... I've been so so distracted and keep catching myself in dreamland. It doesn't help that I spotted this adorable bathing suit on A Cup Of Jo today! Is it spring yet??

[Holiday Sets]

Back in October, I had the opportunity to work with a couple of fantastic photographers here in town - Kelli Trontel and Samantha Bean. I helped them create three different set-ups for a Christmas photo shoot event and I think they turned out quite lovely!

Frozen Pipes

Today I am grateful for a new day and a new week! This weekend wasn't a fun one for us... The one night we forgot to leave our water trickling, our pipes froze! We cranked the heat in our house up to 80° {it was sooo hot in here}, ran out to buy space heaters and multiple gallons of water, poured boiling water down the drains and the hubs even braved the tiny crawl space under our house several times to check it all out. Still, nothing.

The water company came out last night {having realized it was their pipes that froze, between our meter and the street} and a little bit after midnight we finally had running water again! HOORAY! I never realized how inconvenient it is to not be able to shower when you need to, use the facilities or cook and wash the dishes. It has slowly warmed up and the snow is almost all melted... It was pretty while it lasted, but I'm more than ready for some warmer temps!

[Fashion] New Blues

Denim, denim, denim. I don't know about you, but I wear jeans most everyday of my life {actually, one of my goals this year is to buy more pants}. I typically go for darker shades - indigo, black or gray but it's time to switch it up a bit! Blue denim is popping up everywhere for spring. From powder blue jeans to button up denim shirts and denim jackets used for layering... expect to see lots of denim in all shapes and sizes {ripped, straight leg, patched, loose fit}.

4. Give back! I really want to volunteer in my community a bit more. I am too often selfish and want to spend more time helping others!

Hello 2010 :: Goals & Dreams

Hello, hello! Monday... Most of us are back to work today, getting back into the routine after the holidays. It's tough, isn't it?? I've found myself craving all kinds of holiday treats, daydreaming and being easily distracted with everything but the work that I need to get done!

One thing I did do today? {I can hardly believe that I'm saying this} :: I have begun training for my very first {and probably ever} half-marathon! I haven't run since middle school and usually find myself short of breath after a trip up the stairs... so I have a lot of work to do before the race in April. :) I've had many friends participate in marathons and always found myself thinking, "I could never ever do anything like that." Well, I'm going to prove myself wrong this time. I don't care how long it takes me to cross that finish line, I am just determined and excited to do it.

I have many goals for the year - would love for you to share some of yours, too!

1. Become a better cook! I'm ready to experiment more! Any yummy recipes I should try?


2. Read and watch as many classic books and movies as possible! Recommendations?


3. Take lots of road trips! Savannah, Charleston, Louisville & Birmingham are just a few on the list...


4. Learn more about photography and takes lots and lots of photos! I'm going to try to document life a bit better here. And I just ordered this beauty!

5. Team up with lots of creative people. I've got some fun ideas in the works and am excited to collaborate with other artists and bring these thoughts to life!

I'll share a few more of my goals with you tomorrow {I have quite the list}. I'm hoping that by posting them here, I'll feel a bit more motivated and maybe even we'll share the same ones! Hope your holidays were great!
