Daydreams & Inspirations

I'm still not feeling too hot... but found the strength yesterday to shower and get a few things done {besides laying on the couch, watching Love Actually and making my Christmas wishlist}. How was your weekend? Did you all brave the outdoors and hit the sales?

I've had an "inspiration" folder on my desktop for as long as I can remember and am excited to be using many of these lovelies for my first Style File project. Right now I'm working to group them together into categories - Life, Home, Wardrobe & Creative. My online inspirations come from many places - blogs, Flickr, Etsy, We Heart It and more. Where do you find most of your inspiration?

Check back tomorrow for a very happy way to welcome in December!

My Parents Were Awesome

Thanksgiving time is here and my wonderful in-laws are in town. I also just got back from visiting my parents in Colorado and am very thankful for my amazing families! I've also been spending lots of time on this amazing blog called My Parents Were Awesome. Have you seen it yet? These are some of my favorite photos. Enjoy!

HearItFirst Design

I recently had the opportunity to work for an amazing company called HearItFirst. You may recall the name from this post - where I did some work for them earlier in the year.

The challenge: Completely redo a video recording room in their office on Music Row here in Nashville. They wanted a space that had at least two different set-ups for their artist interviews.

The result: I tried to create a space that not only provided multiple {four} looks on camera, but that also worked as a cohesive and vibey hangout space.

I had a very tight budget and am extremely happy with the results, and the lovely photos from Allister Ann!

Leaving On A Jet Plane...

Leaving On A Jet Plane

Flying home today and couldn't be more excited to see this face. I've missed my hubby so much and can't wait to wrap my arms around his hug-able neck! Please have a lovely day and I will see you tomorrow, friends!

Oh ban.do!

I just saw this adorable ban.do headband that Joanna is giving away on her blog! ban.do always creates the sweetest headbands and this one just makes me so happy! *Fingers crossed* my name gets picked tomorrow! :)

Poison & Wine

I can't stop playing this song, over and over and over. My sis-in-law Joy Williams and her buddy John Paul White have teamed up to create some of the most ridiculously beautiful music I've heard in some time - The Civil Wars. This stunning tune was featured in last week's episode of Grey's Anatomy and they also just finished shooting the official music video {produced and directed by the talented Becky Fluke}.

Get the song on iTunes and stay tuned for their upcoming EP... You can also download their free live album here and look for them on the road this December.

Over The River & Through The Woods

You may have noticed I took a brief hiatus from the blog for a few days... from my computer in general, really. I had some downtime to rest, get chores done, find inspiration {away from the computer!} and even managed to come down with a crappy stomach bug. I am feeling very refreshed and am so happy to have arrived in Colorado yesterday for a couple days with my parents and my brother. I'm already missing my man but am super grateful for video chats!

Some realizations made at the airport yesterday ::

1. Working at the airport would be complete and utter chaos.

2. I really really dislike traveling without my hubs. He makes everything more fun!

3. It's so fun running into friends randomly in a Dallas airport terminal {especially when I live in Nashville and they live in Hollywood}.

4. There are lots and lots of triangles at the airport. Have you ever noticed? The seat cushions, the carpets, wall decorations... take a look around next time, you'll be surprised.

5. I hate that "sick to your stomach" feeling that seems to be inevitable when waking up early {my morning started at 4:30 AM - yuck!}. Am I the only one that always feels this when flying?

We had a very relaxed day here in snowy Colorado. It is just so gorgeous and gets me even more in the holiday spirit! I snapped a few photos on the iPhone today {hence the not-so-awesome quality} that I thought I would share. I'm looking forward to several days of shopping, eating home-cooked meals, thrifting, playing with the puppy, reading by the fireplace and catching up with my sweet family.

A New Look

First of all... allow me to introduce you: Pennyweight has a new look! What do you think? Take a look around, make yourself at home and please let me know your thoughts! My new header was designed by Alyson Fox, and the blog layout by Rainy Day Templates. I couldn't have chosen better ladies to work with - they were both so lovely and helpful - not to mention talented!

Picking up where we left off last week... I wanted to add a few more fall "must-haves" to your list.

Cozy Dreams

{photo found here}

Is anyone else SO excited for the holidays? November is my favorite time of year {check back this weekend to see one of the reasons why}! I completely adore the holiday season - lots of delicious food, family time, fires in the fireplace, gingerbread houses, pretty lights and merry decorations!

I have already been hard at work on my wishlist and have even begun to pull out the holiday music classics {my personal favorites are Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald}. Something about the ever-changing leaves and cozy sweaters is so calming and puts me in the best mood!

But... I need your help. I need tips for making my small nest festive this year - I love homemade goodies but don't want to overdo it! What are your tricks? I have some things in mind but figured you creative souls would have some fresh ideas and perspective! Please, do share!
