[Quick, Easy & Delicious]

My cute hubs is a huge chili fan. I was determined to find a really good recipe, and this one turned out wonderfully last week. I'm not too much of a cook {although you'd think I would be with all the food shows that I watch} and am always looking for quick and simple recipes.

This Whole Foods recipe was so yummy and just the right mix of sweet {from the corn} and spicy {but not too spicy - from the sauce}. A perfect, comforting dish for the new season. Bon Appétit!

Spicy Corn & Chicken Chili
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
1 large onion, coarsely chopped
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 1/2 to 2 tablespoons chili powder
2 teaspoons oregano
1 teaspoon ground cumin
1 teaspoon ground coriander
Cayenne powder to taste
1 pound ground chicken breast
1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce - I used Trader Joe's marinara sauce
1/2 cup mild or medium salsa
1 (16-ounce) bag frozen corn kernels, or 3 cups fresh corn kernels
Salt to taste
1/3 cup chopped cilantro

In a large soup pot or Dutch oven, heat oil over medium heat. Add onions and garlic and cook 5 minutes, stirring frequently until onions are translucent. Stir in chili powder, oregano, cumin, coriander and cayenne and cook 1 minute, stirring constantly.

Add chicken. Stir to break up and brown for 3 minutes. Add tomato sauce, 1 cup water {I halved this for thicker chili}, salsa and corn. Season with salt, then bring to a boil. Reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 20 minutes, stirring often, until flavors have melded and chili is thick. Stir in cilantro and serve.

[Fashion] Under The Weather

It has been so rainy and dreary in Nashville the past several weeks. I find myself craving sunshine, but hoping that the rain will at least bring cooler temperatures - yay for fall! I can't believe September has flown by so quickly and we are almost in October! Where did all the time go?

Gray is the new black this autumn. The color is quickly becoming one of my favorites and goes with everything! I'm definitely investing in some more gray pieces this season... The great thing about gray is that you don't have an excuse to say "I don't look good in that!" Don't limit yourself - there are so many different shades, textures and styles for you to play with. Think of it as a neutral, and try incorporating some of your other favorite fall colors for a chic and sexy look.

So, if you find yourself stuck indoors like me, turn on some good rainy day music (I recommend this), make yourself a cup of coffee and get clicking! Here are some fun options to get you started ::

[Botany]

I hope to make it to Evolution (in New York) in person one day... but for now, the website will have to do. There is some seriously crazy stuff at this place, but it is all so unique and beautiful in its own way. I can't get enough of these botany posters. Yes, please!

My "best dressed" choices. Rose Byrne, Olivia Wilde, Mila Kunis, Holly Hunter, Cat Deeley, Ginnifer Goodwin {love her!}, Blake Lively, and my very favorite look... January Jones. Absolutely gorgeous, ladies!

New York Fashion Week

So the Spring 2010 fashion week is coming to an end... My head is spinning with images upon images from these gorgeous runway shows. There are way too many to count, but one of my favorites was from Cynthia Rowley. I feel like her show was the epitome of elegance and grace, so lady-like and lovely but still with an artsy edge. It's been referred to as "undone" or "distressed" and I think that this awesome combo can be summed up as perfectly imperfect.

Sweet Home Alabama

This Labor Day I headed down to Alabama with my friend Katie to visit her precious family. Thrift stores, yard sales, big meals, country roads... it was a blast.

Macushla Burke's photography nearly takes my breath away. The soft, gorgeous photos are like a seriously wonderful fairytale. One word :: obsessed.

[Fashion] Falling For Lilac

The color palette for Fall 2009 is much more unique and enticing than the typical autumn colors. Gray is the new black. Show your patriotic side with a true red that is ever-so-flattering. Think rich and vibrant this season!

My favorite shade right now is a bit in between the purple and pink colors, almost more of a lilac. Remember that these colors are just a guide {and not for everyone}, and that you can still look stylish in various shades of the colors!

I have started seeing these fun colors everywhere and the thought of cooler weather, hot chocolate and layering makes me so giddy! I'm {obviously} really ecstatic about fall fashion and feel it could be one of the most romantic color seasons yet. I recommend not only wearing these colors on their own, but combining them for a super distinct, fashionable look {see my post from yesterday for wonderful color pairing and inspiration from Marc Jacobs}! For the next few Fashion Fridays, I'll be picking a color each week and posting lots of lovely outfit, shoe and accessory ideas.

Whatever your taste, you'll be sure to find lots of great looks in a fabulous lilac-inspired color this autumn ::

Thank You, Marc Jacobs!

I know it's a little early... but he's my favorite! Swooning over these looks from the Marc by Marc Jacobs 2010 Resort collection. View more here.
