Abby Try Again

My current desktop background from abby try again. I've blogged about her before, but I can't get enough of her beautiful work. Check out her blog here, or shop for your favorite print!
Psst... I've posted photos from our weekend adventures in the mountains over here.

Just Darling

Out of the many many photos I've browsed through this morning... I am feeling most inspired by these. So soft and romantic.

[This & That]

How are you lovelies this week? We are home from vacation and had a wonderful time and enjoyed lots and lots of rest {and too much road trip candy -- see below}. I have some photos to share with you tomorrow, so stay tuned. I also picked up plenty of cute things for Troubadour Vintage that I can't wait to tell you about. And I forgot to mention that I have a special 15% off code for all you dear Pennyweight readers, just e-mail me for it.

I so want this adorable hair pin from my creative gal friend Lindsey. She is just so lovely and makes the prettiest things! I mean... how cute is this?

I just got home from a pre-screening of the movie Adam {Hugh Dancy is oh-so cute!}, and it just so happened to be one of the most precious movies. Ever. Please go see this magical movie, you will not regret it.

I have really been loving my week of "vacation" aka being unemployed, but am so thrilled to start my new job later this week at a cute boutique here in town. I have enjoyed many fun-filled late evenings, not setting my alarm in the morning, more time with my hubs, and spontaneous plans with friends.

Last week I got to hang with this ever-inspiring lady, Allister Ann. She is one extraordinary gal - from photography to jewelry design to fashion illustration {and so much more!}. She blogged about our delicious brunch and time together here.
Happy {late} Monday to you!

Packing My Bags

The hubs and I changed our spontaneous beach trip plan to a relaxing mountain get-away. With news of tropical storms and hurricanes in all the beachy areas we were considering, I thought it'd be fun to bring Travis to a place I grew up visiting... my family's cabin in the cozy mountains of North Carolina. I have many memories spending time here as a little girl, with big family gatherings and quaint little towns. My beautiful grandmother is here as well, so it's fun to spend time with her and celebrate her {belated} 80th birthday!

I'm taking a few days to unwind and have plans to read, write, bake, dream and shop. I will be back on Monday or Tuesday with photos and hopefully many stories to share. Hope you all have a lovely weekend as well!

While I'm away, want to visit my new vintage shop and let me know what you think? Likes? Dislikes? Ideas? I'd love to hear it all!

Passing down a story... what will yours be?

My lovely Pennyweight friends - Remember when I told you about a new adventure I was embarking on, Troubadour Vintage? Well, the day has finally come!! The shop is up and running and it is oh-so exciting to see this dream become a reality.

What I adore about vintage clothing is the wonderful stories each item lives to tell. It’s so fun imagining where each garment may have been… on a quirky school teacher, the piano teacher down the street or even an Old Hollywood starlet. At Troubadour Vintage, I provide quality and unique vintage clothing anywhere from the 1940s to 1980s at exceptionally competitive pricing {some of the lowest prices you will find online!}.

Can I ask you to please help spread the word? Forward this post onto a friend, update your Facebook and Twitter status, link to the shop on your blog or whatever else your heart may desire! I would truly appreciate it.

Where else you can find Troubadour Vintage:
- Shop online through Etsy at http://troubadourvintage.com.
- Keep up with my adventures on the Troubadour blog.
- Follow me on Twitter @shoptroubadour.
- Become a fan on Facebook!
- For discount codes, updates and more, sign up to receive occasional newsletters {to do so, look in the right hand column of the TV blog}.

Thanks so much for your support and encouragement, and for helping to spread the word on Troubadour Vintage!

Love,
Elise

Also, I just have to add… there are so many incredible people who have helped me bring this dream to life – from encouragement, advice, ideas, brainstorming sessions to everything in between. Thank you, friends! And a huge thank you to my very best friend {whom this would be impossible without}, my amazing husband Travis. This has been very much a team effort! ☺

Sneak Peek:: Troubadour Vintage

Sooo... remember when I told you about the vintage shop I'm opening through Etsy - Troubadour Vintage? Well, we're open in just {two} days, people! I am so so thrilled and will breathe a huge sigh of relief once it's all up and running. Until then, enjoy a sneak peek at some of the cuteness! Sigh, if only I could keep everything for myself.

[Eye Candy]

Yesterday was a big day for me. It was my last day working at the record label that I've been at for nearly three years. I am very excited for a new adventure - pursuing my background//passion in the fashion industry - but will dearly miss all of the great people that I've had the privilege to work with.

Since, amidst the craziness, I missed my weekly Fashion Friday post, I thought I'd give you some fashion eye candy for the weekend.

A Fine Mess

This has been a very melancholy week for me. I saw this picture and it seemed to fit my mood nicely. I have so many different emotions right now - excited, happy, peaceful, content, frustrated, anxious, sad, nervous, thankful and more... the list could go on and on. Overall, I'm feeling great but a little all over the map. How are you feeling this week?

[I Do]

This wedding is sooo dreamy. My breath was literally taken away when I saw these gorgeous photos by Jose Villa {who also took these incredible wedding pictures of our friends Tec & Chelsea}.

Red Prairie Press

Love this quirky art from Rachel Bone of Red Prairie Press.

Wasting The Day Away...

I am quite excited to have stumbled across Aimee Han's blog, Cavaan, from the UO fashion blog. She is barely 18 and takes the most heavenly photographs... I've spent far too much time admiring page by page of the lovely Cavaan. So inspiring.

Fashion Friday: Summertime Favorites

Let's mix things up a bit. Since Summer won't be around much longer {yay for Fall!}, I want to see and hear about your favorite summer outfits! These days I'm so into dresses - they are easy, comfortable and cute! My current favorite look is above - a colorful vintage dress found at a thrift shop, vintage leather booties that my hubs found for me and new glasses spotted on sale at UO for just $5. Now, for your turn!

1} Take a picture of yourself.
2} Send your photo to elise{at}pennyweightonline{dot}com.
3} Tell me what you are wearing & why it's your favorite summertime wear.

It's always inspiring to see what others are wearing and loving, especially in the heat! I find it way harder to dress fashionably in the summer... maybe because it's so easy to just throw on a basic tank and jeans - nothing wrong with that! Send me your pics and I'll post some in next week's Fashion Friday. If I don't have any to post, that would be quite sad, so please join me in celebrating our personal summer style. Can't wait to see what all you lovelies are donning!

Happy Friday! So so so excited for a weekend fairly plan-free. It's been a crazy couple of weeks and I'm definitely dragging a bit! We're going to pick up a gorgeous victorian-style sofa we scored at a thrift store and tomorrow will be all about Troubadour Vintage! What are you up to {besides taking photos of yourself in your favorite outfit - wink, wink}? See you Monday, friends!

Lots Of {New} Lately

I just realized that I haven't posted any pictures from recent adventures... so this post will hopefully make up for my lack of personability {does that even make sense?}. Lately... One of my best friends turned 25 and we partied at our place, the hubs and I went to Atlanta with my bro-and-sis-in-law, I started an online shop, I went to my very first Red Sox game, my dear family came for a visit, we bought a new car {to replace this} and I put in my two weeks notice at my job. Lots of pretty big things, I'd say.

So... what's new with you?

F-a-l-l

I am so ready for fall. Okay, well maybe just after our last-minute beach trip {in two weeks!}. I'm craving pumpkin spice lattes, colorful leaves, chunky sweaters, cool breezes and lots and lots of layers.

Here's To Happiness {My Version}

Several months back I shared my excitement of winning my very first contest with you. I won this amazing wallpaper by Julia Rothman for Hygge & West. Well, when I was working on my happy list today, I immediately noticed myself jotting down many of the things I had shared for that contest {ironically, that wallpaper almost made the Top 10}. So without further ado, here is my list of 10 things that make me terribly happy:

1. a rainy evening curled up on the couch with my hubs and a bowl of campbell's tomato soup
2. a guilty pleasure read {currently: emily giffin's baby proof} under the comfy duvet in our bedroom
3. saturday morning garage sales
4. a piggyback ride getting lost in the middle of nowhere
5. surprising my cute hubs with his favorite candy {gummy bears, of course}
6. spending hours doing absolutely nothing
7. scouring thrift stores for the perfect dress
8. walking to the local coffee shop for a toasted sesame bagel with lots and lots of cream cheese
9. dreaming up new decorating ideas for our first home
10. the look on my happy husband's face when i started reading harry potter

UPDATE: My happy list has been featured on Naomi's beautiful blog - Rockstar Diaries! Click here to check it out. :) Thanks, Taza!

[Terrible Yellow Eyes]

Are you as excited as I am for the Where The Wild Things Are movie? I am so looking forward to it coming out this fall. It's so fun and magical to see something from my childhood being brought to life. My cute hubs passed along this great blog he found titled Terrible Yellow Eyes.

Terrible Yellow Eyes is a collection of works inspired by the beloved classic, and over the coming weeks, contributing artists will be growing a fantastic collection of pieces to pay homage to author Maurice Sendak's life and legacy.

Oh and I must add... That Arcade Fire song is perfect for the trailer, no?
