Thank You, Ryan Feerer

My friend recently passed along the Horse In The Sea record and I was immediately taken by the artwork. Ryan Feerer {designer and illustrator} creates such charming things and I couldn't help but smile when I went to his site this morning to find this happy design with the words "You are beautiful, seriously, you really are..." at the top. Thank you Ryan Feerer, for bringing some joy into my life - and hopefully yours - this morning. More of his fun creations below.

A Little Bit Of This, A Little Bit Of That

First, go download this free artwork immediately! I've blogged about Feed Your Soul: The Free Art Project before, and this new piece from Lindsey Carr is an instant favorite.

Tomorrow I head to the beautiful land of Salt Lake City for my little bro-in-law's wedding! I am so excited to get away for vacation, but more than that, to celebrate in the joy of their marriage!

Happy Birthday to my sweet friend Vanessa of ButterflySparks Designs! Aren't she and her little guy the cutest?!

I love my precious husband.

I want this adorable pillow. Very badly.

And this doily vase.

Hope you all are having a lovely spring day!

Vintage Home Interiors

I really don't need to say much because these pictures speak for themselves! The American Vintage Home Collection is fabulous and always makes me smile. These are some of my favorites today from the 1940s interiors. The pictures ranges from 1900-1960 and include various styles including Art Deco, Modern, Mid-Century and more. I could spend hours digging around here for inspiration!

Fashion Friday: To A Tee

You can find a perfect array of tees this season... from racer-back tanks to plunging v-necks, scoopnecks to camisoles. With all these options, it's easy to find the right silhouette for your body! I love the just-got-out-of-bed look, and the tee helps pull this off flawlessly. Most of my favorites come from American Apparel {they are sooo comfy, but you can find fun looks from Alexander Wang, C&C California, Urban Outfitters, Rag & Bone and more. The tee is a staple item, so it's essential to have plenty of different looks!

To A Tee

Make sure to find the right fit. The most popular tees right now are very flowy, they don't hug your body. Give yourself some breathing room and mix it up a bit with stripes, turquoise and plunging necklines, or it's always safe to stick with the classic white tee.

Aimee Sicuro

Ooooh! I have a new love... these darling prints from Aimee Sicuro, a brilliant San Francisco-based artist and illustrator. Notice my love of bicycles carrying over into this post, too?

Love On Two Wheels

I am so so so very excited... my sweet in-laws got me a bike for my birthday, and it just came in yesterday! It is a purple Schwinn and I absolutely love it! I haven't had a chance to get any pictures of it yet, but for now, I'm enjoying these delightful bicycle photos and dreaming of riding in a spring dress along the beach.

Busy, Busy, Busy!

I hate missing a day blogging {or two for that matter}, but this week has been absolutely nuts! It's a big music week here in Nashville where lots of artists and industry people get together for interviews, meetings, showcases, concerts, etc. On top of all the craziness from the work side of things, I also designed the set for an awesome company called HearItFirst. They are hosting various artist and band video interviews throughout the week, and even though it was a little hectic, I had such a blast helping out!

Thanks to Candace from SparklePower for the wonderful fabric banner!

Fashion Friday: Cold Shoulder

I am smitten with the one-shoulder trend! It is a subtle and sexy way to show some skin this season, while still remaining tasteful and mysterious (remember Michelle Obama's gorgeous inaugural ball gown?). I love that you can take so many different approaches with it - think: classical, romantic, bohemian, retro, preppy.

This sassy look will instantly update your wardrobe. I'd say stick with the one-shoulder dress, but the one-shoulder tops can be equally dramatic. This trend has been seen all over the runways and red carpets and is a must-have in my book. Below are some of my favorite (and inexpensive!) picks from ASOS:

What do you guys think about this look?

Five Days In Paris

My dear friend Katie just got back from a trip to Paris... with beautiful Holgas to show for it. I am crazy about these inspiring photos and just want to tack them all over my walls! I posted so many, I just couldn't pick a favorite!

An Organized Collection

I'm a firm believer in everything being in its perfect place. I drive my husband crazy just organizing the throw pillows on the couch. So of course I adore this "organized collection" group on Flickr. It's nice to know I'm not the only crazy one out there...

Colors & Details & Charm, Oh My

Oh my... this is just too amazing! Holly Becker of decor8 has found the most gorgeous guest house in Holland. The Bed of Flowers B&B is just bursting with happiness, no? I can't get over the pretty floral designs and cheery colors.

Fashion Friday: Second Skin

{Photos from InStyle: Max Azria, Narciso Rodriguez, Derek Lam}

As much as bright pops of color are a huge trend this season, so is the lack of color - err, neutrals with emphasis on white, black and white, nude and cream. Paired with a bold piece or worn from head-to-toe, incorporating neutral colors into your wardrobe is a must this season.

{The Best Way To Wear Neutral Colors}

1. Pair black and white together. This combination looks so sophisticated and never seems to go out of style. I've seen lots of black and white prints and florals on the runway this season.
2. Don't be afraid to wear neutrals alone. You can achieve such a soft, angelic look with these light tints. Keep it simple!
3. Accessorize. On the contrary, it can be really fun to incorporate a belt, bag, shoes or hat in a metallic or bright color.
4. Combine creams with darker browns or khaki.
5. Stick with the basics. A neutral or all black suit is a classic look that still feels fresh for spring.
6. Play with textures. Mix up your look with light and airy, silk or transparent fabrics.

Raccoon Friend

Oh, how I love this little guy. Funny how cute little creatures can really brighten your day. Dear Raccoon, will you please be my birthday present this year?

Happy Birthday {to me} and my brother... exactly 3 years apart. :)

Days With My Father

Wow, I just read the most beautiful, heartbreaking story. This inspiring website by Phillip Toledano shares the life and legacy of his father, who had no short-term memory and often felt lonely and lost. I wish I could have known this fascinating old man. Thanks to my lovely friend Katie (Joanna Goddard also blogged about it) for sending it!

Flights of Fancy

I am sooo into cut paper illustration right now... the details, textures and colors are just so fascinating to me! Jayme McGowan's intricate details are truly amazing. Her Etsy shop carries some of this playful art! Pretty pretty images from Small Magazine:

Sunday Brunch Dress Shop

Take time to slow down & dress up.

The new online Sunday Brunch is full of sweet little dresses perfect for date night on the town, going out with the girls and yes, even Sunday brunch! They are definitely a bit on the pricey side, but can't a girl dream? I adore their story in the "about" section...

No matter how elegant, how timeless, a dress still billows in breezes and swishes in doorways, is always a little different with each wearing and on each person. We don’t dress up to be like someone else, we dress up to be ourselves. A dress makes us more aware of being alive (and not by pinching at the waist!). A dress is about savoring life, *our* lives. When we read a good story, we close our eyes and see the characters. The right dress can make us feel that way. We all deserve to be that sure of, and that happy with, who we are, wherever we are.

Monday Morning Blues

{photo via magic magic magic}

Yawn... Monday morning again. As usual, the weekend went by far too quickly! I did a little thrifting, cleaning, spray painting, planning and celebrating this weekend. The weather was gorgeous and in the 70s and then last night the temperature dropped and we had a horrible wind storm. A huge chunk of our house paneling blew off... not good! So, needless to say, we will be dealing with that today, and praying it's nothing too major. Snow in our forecast, too? Ugh... this crazy weather! Hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

Fashion Friday: Dress Code

I am all about dresses... especially in the springtime! They have to be my favorite piece of clothing, so simple and effortless! Dresses are incredibly versatile... dress them up for an evening look or down for casual daywear. My favorite dress trends for spring include geometric prints, bright colors, florals, sheers, denim and {gasp!} horizontal stripes.

Remember:
- Choose wisely. Each dress expresses different feelings and tells your story. What kind of impression are you trying to make?
- A slip is a must-have! No one wants to see you over-exposed, and it will also keep your dress from clinging.
- Keep length in mind. As Tim Gunn told us last night, a good rule of thumb is nothing below the kneecap! Although I do love some extra long dresses, the knee-length look is the most universally-flattering.
- If you're wearing a minidress, remember modesty. Stick with flats and watch your movements! We don't need another Britney. :)

I am so excited to have reached my 100th post! Thank you all for reading and for your sweet comments. I'm excited to reach 200... 300... 400 and so on!

Come Gunn, Come All

travel around the world
open a boutique
make a quilt
meet tim gunn

Tonight was a real dream come true... I got to see THE Tim Gunn! We drank bubbly and listened to Mr. Gunn share his spring styling tips at the Kate Spade store. He was exactly as you would imagine, super sweet and inspiring. His mannerisms, words and look was the same Tim you see on TV. I loved it. Black suit with a pink tie. Cheesy jokes. Red face. I joked with my friend that I would love to see Tim dressed down in a tee. How hilarious {and cute} would that be? I am still giddy from those spectacular two hours!

Crafty Crafty

Lots of inspiration around the blog world this week for all you DIY-ers out there... Thanks to Grace over at Design*Sponge, I've found a little project to try out this weekend that is sure to look quite lovely in the office. This fun and practical pencil holder doubles as a customizable calendar.

I am also overjoyed to hear about Craftynest, a fantastic DIY blog filled with a wealth of adorable (and inexpensive!) project ideas. A few of my favorites include the bulletin board with shutters, framed doilies and handmade paper silhouettes.

Have you made anything fun lately? If so, please share!

Pillow Blankets & Cloudy Dreams

I am so so sleepy today... this whole week is wearing me out, really. How amazing does this Joon & Jung pillow blanket look right now? I'm ready to curl up just looking at it!
